Halloween is a great time to dress up and have fun seeing the kids go house to house collecting candy.
We all recall those days and we also recall for some of us going back to the dentist a time or two over candy taking a silver crown off that you already had your tooth once before fixed with a large filling. Well let this generation learn from our mistakes and avoid the candy that is sticky or chewy. I understand there is no perfect candy like there is no perfect meat but we must understand eating to much of anything isn't good in the first place along with the Red Dye #4 and other colors we are not supposed to enjoy but with our eyes only. The candy to enjoy this Holiday or any of them is Chocolate because it does not stick as bad as the other candy that is meant to be chewy and those are those ones that get in the grooves of the teeth. I would have your child eat an apple after having candy to help promote the saliva with the juice of the apple and the crunchy apple with help clean the teeth! Now remember apples have their own sweetness to them so after doing this it is time to brush really good the apple just pre-cleaned their teeth and filled their stomachs with something good. Double check their teeth to make sure they are doing it right. Don't fall for oh I brushed......and check their toothbrush to see if it is wet or not ...Oh the tricks they try to do ...Stay Safe and Double Check Candy!

Xerostomia A fancy name for dry mouth Between 30 and 40% of adults have xerostomia or dry mouth. Its prevalence increases with age and is caused mostly by medications or systemic disease.
The bacteria in your mouth grow in an acid environment and the enamel on your teeth break down the more acid the conditions. With less saliva present, this leads to erosion, cavities, and sensitivity – all bad stuff. Drinking more water won't help it.
